Peterson comes to the cage accompanied by Invasion of the Bodysnatcher. Scott Peterson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Scott Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cowboy Cerrone!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson misses with an uppercut. Cerrone saw that one coming.
A punch combination from Cerrone misses.
Cerrone does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Peterson checks a leg kick nicely.
Peterson throws a hook but Cerrone avoids it easily.
Cerrone throws a chopping leg kick but Peterson manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Cerrone connects with a solid leg kick.
Cerrone fails with a takedown attempt.
Peterson misses with an uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cerrone throws a head kick but Peterson moves out of range.
Cowboy Cerrone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cerrone tries to score with a low kick but Peterson moves his leg out of the way.

Cerrone throws a series of punches but Peterson moves out of range.
Cerrone fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Peterson avoids it really well and circles away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Peterson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Cowboy Cerrone has been cut.
Scott Peterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cowboy Cerrone.

and Peterson counters with a nice uppercut.
Cerrone takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Cerrone uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Peterson.

and Peterson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Peterson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Peterson counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Cerrone throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

and Peterson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Peterson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Cerrone can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Peterson controls the pace.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cerrone has an active guard here but Peterson has managed to pass into half guard.

Peterson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

and Peterson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Cerrone pivots, looking for a leg kick but Peterson is out of range and Cerrone settles back down.
Peterson jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Peterson misses with a hook.
Cerrone throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Peterson counter with a right hand.

Peterson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cerrone's guard.

Cerrone can't keep his opponent in guard - Peterson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Peterson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Cerrone flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Peterson controlling the action here.
Peterson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

What can Cerrone do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Cowboy Cerrone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
