Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jigaro Kano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinya Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kano's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, the zepher song. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kano looks to land a combination but Kawajiri avoids it well.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kano.
Kano throws a jab but it's blocked by Kawajiri.
Kano finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Kano looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Kawajiri feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kano has a closed guard, preventing Kawajiri from standing up.

Kawajiri drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kano manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kawajiri has Kano in his guard.
Kano chips away with some ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kawajiri can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kano is looking to work some ground and pound but Kawajiri has wrist control.

Kano got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kawajiri has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kano has managed to get both his arms back between Kawajiri's legs - danger averted.

Kawajiri is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kawajiri escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kano gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kawajiri had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kano defends it easily.

Kawajiri looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Kano has picked Kawajiri up and slammed him! Kawajiri can't keep hold of the triangle and Kano manages to pass to side control!
Kano advances nicely into full mount.

Kano has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kano looking to control but Kawajiri is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kano tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jigaro Kano just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Kano lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kawajiri circles away quickly and effectively.

Kano closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Kano seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kawajiri does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kano is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Kano takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
