Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orlando Melendez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Gordon!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordon swats away the attempt to clinch by Melendez.
Gordon misses with a double jab.
Melendez avoids the body shot from Gordon.
Gordon throws a low kick, looking for Melendez's leg but Melendez calmly moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Melendez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gordon.
Nice takedown defense from Gordon. No joy for Melendez on that attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Melendez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gordon swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gordon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gordon looks to land a combination but Melendez avoids it well.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A clash of legs there as Melendez blocks the low kick.
Gordon throws a leg kick but Melendez sees it coming and moves out of range.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
No joy there for Gordon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Melendez shoots in for a takedown but Gordon shows good takedown defense.
Melendez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gordon pinned against the cage. Gordon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Orlando Melendez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gordon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Melendez shoots in looking for a takedown. Gordon tries to sprawl out of it but Melendez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gordon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Melendez takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Melendez fails with a takedown attempt.
Melendez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gordon as he avoids it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gordon throws a leg kick but Melendez sees it coming and moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Melendez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
John Gordon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Melendez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Gordon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gordon wants it to stay on the feet.

Gordon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Gordon lands a jab to Melendez's midsection.

Melendez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Gordon!

Melendez is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gordon has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Gordon is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Melendez misses with some ground and pound and Gordon recovers position to half guard.

Gordon is trying to stand back up but Melendez is controlling him
Melendez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Melendez has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Gordon defend it? Melendez steps over the head and cranks it - Gordon is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Melendez!
