PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bane Baphomet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Messinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baphomet comes to the cage accompanied by 2 Pac - Hail Mary. Bane Baphomet had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 136.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Will Messinger!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Baphomet.
Baphomet swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Baphomet fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Messinger looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Good standup being displayed there by Baphomet as he connects with a hook.
Baphomet lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Messinger backs up against the cage.
Messinger slips a jab and a cross from Baphomet.
Messinger avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Messinger displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Baphomet throws out the jab.
Messinger shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Baphomet as he jumps to the side.
This has been an exciting period of action!
No luck for Messinger with that takedown attempt.
Messinger uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Baphomet.
Messinger is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Baphomet on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Baphomet lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Baphomet moves in looking to clinch but Messinger pushes him off.

Baphomet closes the distance and clinches.
Baphomet really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Baphomet wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Messinger tries to land knees in the clinch but Baphomet avoids the damage to the body.
Baphomet works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Messinger is working for takedown but Baphomet is calmly controlling the position for now.
Bane Baphomet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Messinger.
Baphomet tries to circle away but Messinger has him pinned against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Messinger fails to pull guard.
Baphomet on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Messinger trying to land knees to the body.
Messinger looks gassed!

Baphomet's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Messinger tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Baphomet counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Baphomet lands a hook that stumbles Messinger back into the cage. Baphomet follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Messinger to the canvas! Baphomet pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Messinger has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
