Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lyle Alzado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hakim Hamsho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alzado's entrance music is BLUNT- The Iron Maiden. A fine choice. The crowd seem to be enjoying Hamsho's choice of entrance music: Jump Around. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lyle Alzado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hakim Hamsho!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hamsho misses with an uppercut.
A cross from Hamsho lands.
Hamsho pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hamsho is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Alzado blocks a jab.
Alzado tests Hamsho's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hamsho ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alzado moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alzado misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hamsho tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alzado swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Alzado slips under a jab from Hamsho.
Hakim Hamsho is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hamsho scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Hamsho throws and low kick but Alzado moves out of range easily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hamsho.
Hamsho throws a body punch but Alzado moves out of range.
Alzado slips a jab and a cross from Hamsho.
Hamsho ducks under a wild hook from Alzado.

Alzado shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Alzado wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hamsho keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hamsho won't allow Alzado to pass to mount.
Hamsho gets back to full guard.
Hamsho manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alzado manages to get himself to full guard.
Hamsho slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Alzado wants to sweep here but Hamsho controlling him for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alzado bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hamsho's guard.
Hamsho is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Hamsho controls Alzado momentarily but Alzado frees himself.
Alzado wants to control from the top but Hamsho keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Alzado keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hamsho.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alzado slips a jab from Hamsho.
Alzado misses with a takedown attempt - Hamsho sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hakim Hamsho dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hamsho throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alzado moves out of range of the leg kick from Hamsho.
Hamsho throws a right hand that Alzado ducks under and follows up with a left that Alzado also avoids with ease.
Hakim Hamsho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hamsho lands a nice looking kick to the body. Alzado takes a step back to recover.
Alzado blocks a head kick by Hamsho.
Alzado shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alzado looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Hamsho moves in looking to clinch but Alzado pushes him off.

Hamsho scores with a spinning back kick!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hamsho connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Alzado avoids the body shot from Hamsho.
Alzado defending well as Hamsho loads up on a big left hand.
Alzado keeps the fight on the outside.

Alzado shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Alzado showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hamsho is trying to maintain the position but Alzado is very close to passing his half guard.

Alzado is looking to take a break and control but Hamsho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hamsho wants to control but Alzado is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Alzado is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Hamsho reverses the position - he's now on top in Alzado's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alzado has a closed guard, preventing Hamsho from standing up.

Alzado looking for a guillotine here but Hamsho defends easily.

Alzado looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hamsho trying to control but Alzado is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd cheers as Alzado lands an impressive looking overhand right. Hamsho doesn't seem phased though.
A combination from Alzado does no damage.
Hamsho takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hamsho lands a front kick.
Alzado blocks a leg kick.
Lyle Alzado is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hamsho misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hamsho tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alzado swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Alzado takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hamsho throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hamsho throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hamsho misses with a two punch combination.
Alzado will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hamsho throws a left and a right that both miss

and Alzado counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Alzado passes Hamsho's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hakim Hamsho showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Hamsho swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alzado paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Alzado tries for a takedown but Hamsho sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hamsho closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Hamsho tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alzado swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Alzado fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hamsho wants to slow Alzado down by chopping away at his legs.
Hamsho fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Alzado tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hamsho swivels and escapes.
Alzado keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hamsho.
Hakim Hamsho seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Alzado is looking to take a break and control but Hamsho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hamsho is refusing to be controlled, as Alzado sits in half guard.

Alzado is trying to work for a kimura but Hamsho is defending well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Alzado wants to take a breather but Hamsho is having none of it.
Lyle Alzado has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Alzado wants to pass to mount but Hamsho is defending the position.
Hamsho is in trouble now - Alzado has advanced to mount!
Alzado is looking to work his way around to Hamsho's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Hakim Hamsho is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Alzado landing strikes from the mount and Hamsho is in trouble!
Hamsho takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Alzado throws some wild stikes that Hamsho manages to avoid easily.
Alzado misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Alzado goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Hamsho turns into him and now he's in Alzado's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alzado is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hamsho trying to control the position from guard on top but Alzado is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Alzado is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hamsho is aware though and is defending well.
Alzado throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Alzado keeping moving, preventing Hamsho from controlling successfully.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lyle Alzado.
I think Hamsho has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
