Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ted Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mustafa Aziz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Aziz.
Mustafa Aziz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aziz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Aziz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aziz off to one side.

Jones tries to pull guard but Aziz holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.

Aziz gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Jones pulls Aziz in close to prevent any damage.

Aziz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Aziz wants to stand but Jones has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Aziz seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Aziz counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Aziz tries to land a front kick but Jones steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

and Aziz counters with a three punch combo that has Jones backing up. Jones nods at Aziz to acknowledge the strikes.

Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Aziz.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Aziz gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Jones lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Aziz. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Jones has control of Aziz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Aziz regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Aziz is trying to get back to his feet but Jones has full control of the position and if anything, Aziz has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Jones controlling well, preventing Aziz from escaping the position.

You can see the frustration on Aziz's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Jones lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Aziz.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aziz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Aziz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Ted Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
