PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Quim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hall comes to the cage accompanied by Money!!!!!. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy Quim!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Quim decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hall taking some punishment here, with Quim in his half guard.

Quim is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hall tries to get to full guard but Quim has control of the leg.
Quim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Quim trying to mount his opponent but Hall defends it.
Hall misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Hall is trying to get back to full guard.
Quim controlling the pace.
Quim blocks the strikes from Hall.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Quim bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hall prevents Quim from improving position.
Hall is looking for a sweep.
Quim taking a breather here.

Hall tries to buck Quim off but Quim is having none of it.
Hall trying to remain calm as Quim controls from the top position.

Quim is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hall is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hall is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Quim is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hall is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Quim throws a strike aimed at the side of Hall's head but Hall avoids it well.
Hall is trying to control Quim's posture but Quim avoids it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Quim circles away from the clinch attempt.
Quim tries to clinch up.

Hall shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Quim tries to lock up and control but Hall gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hall trying to control but Quim is having none of it.

Hall stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Hall is breathing heavily.
Hall fails with the takedown
and Quim counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Quim throws a leg kick but Hall sees it coming and moves out of range.

Quim closes the distance and pushes Hall back into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Quim dominated that round.
That's time! Hall's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Quim drives through and clinches with Hall against the cage.
Hall tries for a takedown. No joy.
Quim works on Hall's body with a couple of short punches.
Hall tries to pull guard but Quim holds him up against the cage and eventually Hall drops back down to his feet.
Hall tries a body shot but Quim blocks it.

Quim's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hall tries to keep at a distance but Quim has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hall drops down looking for an ankle pick but Quim pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shawn Hall. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Quim closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hall to the mat! Hall manages to get full guard.
Quim trying to control the position from guard on top but Hall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hall is trying to control the position but Quim postures up.

Quim wants to stand but Hall has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quim controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hall is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Quim controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Hall pushes Quim off and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
A head kick misses from Quim.

Quim rushes Hall and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Quim tries to land knees in the clinch but Hall avoids the damage to the body.

Quim breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hall shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Quim counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hall!
Quim takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Quim has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hall's face.

Hall wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Quim scores with punches from the back.
Hall is taking damage to the body and head.
Quim controls the position.

Quim is persistently looking for the submission but Hall is defending it well.
Hall trying to control the position but Quim manages to sink in the hooks.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Quim lands strikes to the head.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Quim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Quim tries to close the distance and clinch but Hall swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No joy there for Hall, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hall lands with a kick to the temple. Quim shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Quim shoots in but Hall avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Quim looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hall!
Quim manages to capitalize on a mistake by Hall to take his back!
You can see the frustration on Hall's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hall trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Quim landing with strikes.

Hall rolls, trying to escape but Quim keeps control of the position.

Quim is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Hall has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Quim has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Hall taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Quim doesn't care though - he's delighted!
