Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tony Bova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russell Brand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bova comes to the ring accompanied by I came to bring the pain!. Brand has chosen Russell Brand and Katie Perry as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Bova!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Russell Brand!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bova looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Brand!
Bova looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Bova raining down shots from the mount!
Brand is looking to get to half guard.
Brand tries to hold on but Bova pushes him away.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Bova throws a strike there. Brand manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Bova wants to pass the guard but Brand is defending well.
Bova not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Brand is trying to maintain the position but Bova is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bova working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A bone on bone clash there as Bova blocks the leg kick.
Brand wants to clinch.

and Bova counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Bova works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Bova scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Brand keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Brand is trying to stand up here but Bova is controlling him well.

Brand kicks off Bova and gets to his feet.

and Bova counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Brand!

Brand is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bova lands a big elbow.
Bova has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Brand's face.
Bova connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Bova misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Bova creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Brand sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Brand takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Brand is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Bova has just dragged him back down to the mat.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bova looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Russell Brand is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Brand clinches up with Bova and pushes him back against the ropes.
Brand is trying to stall.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bova is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Brand gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Bova. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bova has Brand pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Brand manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Brand has hold of one of Bova's legs. Bova is fighting the takedown attempt but Brand gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brand accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bova wants to stand but Brand is controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Brand digs a good hook to Bova's body.

Brand clinches with his opponent.

Brand breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bova tries for a takedown but Brand circles away easily

and Brand moves into the clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Brand is stalling here.
Brand gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bova.
Brand is pressed up against the ropes. Bova has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brand down to the mat. Brand avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Bova thows a huge punch but Brand dodges it nicely.

Bova is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Brand is aware though and is defending well.
Bova might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brand slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Brand wants to control for a moment but Bova uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Brand throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tony Bova showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bova, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
