PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harry Busch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Underhill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Underhill comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Chimaira - Warpath kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mike Underhill told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Busch thows a body shot but no joy.
Busch lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Underhill lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Busch changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Busch throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Busch fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Busch tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Underhill was well out of range. Poor timing from Busch.
Nice body punch from Busch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Busch lands a really nice looking cross but Underhill seems unphased.
Underhill jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Busch is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Underhill.
Underhill bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Busch with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Underhill to score with a decent uppercut.
Harry Busch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Busch stuffs the takedown attempt from Underhill. Underhill gets slowly back to his feet.

Busch throws out a loose jab but Underhill uses good head movement to avoid it.
Underhill ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Underhill throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Busch stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Underhill takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Busch is looking to wear down Underhill with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Underhill blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Busch stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Busch is pushing Underhill up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Busch gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Underhill regains guard.
Busch throws a strike but Underhill rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Underhill looking to sit in guard and control but Busch gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Underhill looking to hit a scissor sweep but Busch is one step ahead there.
Busch content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Underhill wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Underhill is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Underhill shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Busch's guard.
Busch has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Busch wants to stand and escape but Underhill is having none of it.
Underhill throws a big right hand that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Underhill accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Busch can't keep his opponent in guard - Underhill advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Underhill is thwarting Busch's attempts to control the position.
Busch makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Busch.
Underhill is working Busch over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Underhill must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Underhill throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Underhill fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Underhill moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Harry Busch has been cut.
Busch walks into a stiff left hand from Underhill.

Underhill decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Underhill content to control rather than advance.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Underhill connects with a nice short shot to Busch's temple.

Busch is not content to let Underhill control the position.
Underhill thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Busch keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Underhill throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Busch has Underhill pulled in close to control his posture.
Busch tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Busch keeping moving, preventing Underhill from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Underhill tries to free his leg and advance position but Busch is retaining full guard.

I think Underhill has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
