PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and CJ Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Thiago Torres has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Thiago Torres seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torres shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Riley pinned against the cage. Riley gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Riley content to stall in guard here.
Riley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Torres swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Torres wants to sweep but no luck.
Torres keeping full guard, as Riley tries to pass.
Riley working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Riley pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Torres is keeping the position for now.
Torres on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Torres tries to get out of the position.

Torres working for a triangle but Riley defends it easily.

Riley drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Riley jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Torres misses with a takedown

and Riley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Riley tries to free his leg and advance position but Torres is retaining full guard.
Torres is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Torres bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Riley's guard.

Riley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Torres doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Torres manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Torres stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Riley swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Riley throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Torres thows a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Riley is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Riley looks gassed!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Riley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Torres swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Riley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Riley wants to control from the top but Torres keeps moving.

Torres had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Riley is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Torres Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Riley's back instead.
Riley covers up after that shot from Torres.

Torres looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Riley taps!
