Alex van der Val will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Santos.
Santos avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
van der Val fails to land with a series of punches.
Alex van der Val seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
van der Val rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Santos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Santos works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
van der Val misses with a hook. Santos ducked under it nicely.
Santos uses good head movement to avoid the hook from van der Val.
Santos scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. van der Val doesn't seem bothered though.
van der Val looks to land a combination but Santos avoids it well.
A telegraphed right hand from van der Val misses the target.
van der Val moves forwards but Santos connects with a nice, crisp jab.

It looks like Alex van der Val has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Santos lands a brutal uppercut that launches van der Val off his feet! van der Val tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
