PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Macapinlac Co (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabio Werster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Werster has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Werster swinging wildly here.
Werster lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Co clinches.
Co lands an elbow just above Werster 's eye.
Co has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Werster is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Werster tries to circle away but Co has him pinned against the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Co.

Werster is fighting off a takedown attempt but Co is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Werster to the mat. Werster regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Werster being controlled here, momentarily.
Co wants to control from the top but Werster keeps moving.
Co in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Co is looking to work some ground and pound but Werster has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Co accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Co is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Co postures up.
Co trying to control but Werster is working from the bottom.
Werster really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Co. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Werster fails to land with a series of punches.
Fabio Werster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Co shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Werster pinned against the cage. Werster gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A combination from Werster does no damage.
A telegraphed right hand from Werster misses the target.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Co prevents Werster from breaking the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Co lands an uppercut.

Co successfully pulls guard.
Werster trying to control the position from guard on top but Co is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Co is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Werster got a little sloppy there for a moment and Co has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Werster has managed to get both his arms back between Co's legs - danger averted.
Co lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Werster!
Werster wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Co is landing with some decent strikes but Werster is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Werster is squirming around, avoiding Co's attempts to control the action.

Co is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Werster has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Co can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Werster is looking to escape.
Co has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Werster tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Co lands a big elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Co has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Werster's face.

Co looking for a guillotine from mount but Werster is having none of it.
Werster tries to hold on but Co pushes him away.

Co has control of Werster's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Werster regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Co changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Werster looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Co takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Co is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
