PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Francois Pignon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivor Biggun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pignon kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Monster. Ivor Biggun looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Francois Pignon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivor Biggun!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pignon shoots in looking for a takedown. Biggun tries to sprawl out of it but Pignon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Biggun manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Biggun looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Horrible takedown by Pignon or perhaps it was just good defense by Biggun which made him look bad.

Pignon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Biggun to the mat! Biggun manages to get full guard.

Pignon drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pignon jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Pignon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pignon tries to free his leg and advance position but Biggun is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pignon is looking to stand up but Biggun won't let him.

Pignon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Pignon drops back looking for a leg! Biggun is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Biggun manages to kick Pignon off! Pignon jumps back into Biggun's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pignon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Biggun swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pignon shoots in for a double leg but Biggun sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Francois Pignon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Biggun shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Pignon is trying desperately to improve position.
Biggun trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Pignon tries to hold on but Biggun postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pignon working to try and regain half guard.
Biggun avoids the attempt from Pignon to control.

Biggun moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Pignon has worked his arm free - good work by Pignon!
Pignon gets back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pignon is trying to maintain the position but Biggun is very close to passing his half guard.

Biggun is working for a submission of some sort.
Pignon tries to kick Biggun off but Biggun keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pignon controlling the position for now.
Pignon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pignon tries to get to full guard but Biggun has control of the leg.
Pignon gets back to full guard.
Biggun is fighting to break Pignon's control of his arms but Pignon is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pignon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Biggun manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Biggun counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Pignon thinking.

Pignon gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Biggun slaps away a takedown attempt from Pignon, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Biggun leaves Pignon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Francois Pignon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pignon drops back looking for a leg! Biggun is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Biggun manages to kick Pignon off! Pignon jumps back into Biggun's guard.

Pignon decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pignon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Biggun avoids it really well and circles away.

Pignon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Pignon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Pignon drops back looking for a leg! Biggun is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Biggun manages to kick Pignon off! Pignon jumps back into Biggun's guard.

Pignon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Biggun, up you get!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Biggun is trying to improve his position.

Pignon is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Biggun looks calm but he's in trouble here. Pignon gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Biggun is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Pignon lets go of the hold and Biggun can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Francois Pignon!
