PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunt comes into the arena with Dyers Eve blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Hunt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Banks!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banks keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hunt is looking to clinch but Banks is avoiding it.
Hunt rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Banks moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hunt drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Banks tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Banks manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hunt's best efforts.

Banks looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Hunt thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Banks is looking for a sweep. Hunt is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Banks slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Banks is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hunt tries to free his leg and advance position but Banks is retaining full guard.

Banks had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hunt is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Banks Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hunt's back instead.

Banks is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Hunt is defending well though. Banks let's go of the attempt for now.

Hunt rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Hunt lands with a few short shots to the body.
Hunt wants to get back to full guard.

Hunt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Banks drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Banks jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hunt wants to sweep here but Banks controlling him for the moment.

Hunt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Banks thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hunt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Banks is one step ahead there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hunt doesn't manage to clinch there - Banks circles away.

and Hunt counters with a takedown into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Banks makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Banks.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hunt lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Hunt works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Banks is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hunt pulls his head out easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Hunt will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hunt's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hunt throws a low kick but Banks avoids it.

Hunt closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Banks regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Hunt.
Hunt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Banks is looking for a triangle but Hunt pushes his legs off easily.

Banks tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Banks is breathing heavily.

Hunt working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Banks's head.
Hunt stands and throws Banks's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Banks jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hunt manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Hunt looks like he's trying to stand up.

Banks has his foot on Hunt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hunt works his way back into a safe position though.

Banks bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hunt's guard.

Banks is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Hunt will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Andre Banks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Hunt shoots in and bounces Banks off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hunt cracks Banks with a solid left hand.
Banks avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunt is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Hunt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Banks has his feet on Hunt's thighs here. He's pushed Hunt off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Hunt screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
