The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Mendez throws a leg kick but Flair checks it.
Flair throws a series of punches but Mendez moves out of range.
Mendez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Flair paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Flair is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mendez.

It looks like Ric Flair has been cut.
Flair looks gassed!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Mendez, right into the meat.
Good leg kick by Mendez there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Flair tries to bum rush Mendez with a series of wild strikes but Mendez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Flair checks a low kick from Mendez.
Mendez throws a head kick but Flair moves out of range.
Flair moves into range and connects with a jab.
Mendez takes a swing at Flair's ribcage but misses.
Mendez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Flair tests Mendez's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mendez throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Flair stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Mendez follows into mount!

Flair is rocked!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Flair can do anything to dispel that myth.
Flair's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Flair wants to hold on but Mendez pushes him away.
Mendez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mendez is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Flair is still in real trouble! Can Mendez finish him?
Mendez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Mendez connects with a bit shot that sees Flair covering up! More strikes from Flair and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Mendez is our winner by TKO!
