Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bruce The Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kato Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce The Dragon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kato Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Dragon moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
The Dragon connects with a solid leg kick.
The Dragon feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mendez's calf.

Mendez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The Dragon throws a sloppy head kick and Mendez moves out of range easily.

The Dragon looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mendez.
The Dragon throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Mendez.


It looks like Kato Mendez has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The Dragon throws a sloppy head kick and Mendez moves out of range easily.

The Dragon throws a leg kick but Mendez sees it coming and moves out of range.

The Dragon throws a sloppy head kick and Mendez moves out of range easily.

Mendez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts The Dragon as he jumps to the side.
Mendez closes the distance and clinches up with The Dragon, looking for a takedown. Mendez pushes The Dragon against the cage but The Dragon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bruce The Dragon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kato Mendez.
The Dragon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Horrible takedown by Mendez or perhaps it was just good defense by The Dragon which made him look bad.
The Dragon misses with a head kick.
Mendez fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
The Dragon lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mendez will feel that in the morning.

Mendez has taken the fight to the clinch.
The Dragon working hard to break the clinch.
The Dragon wants to break the clinch but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mendez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mendez fails to land the takedown.
The Dragon lands a head kick. Mendez smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Mendez closes the distance and clinches up with The Dragon, looking for a takedown. Mendez pushes The Dragon against the cage but The Dragon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mendez walks forward, straight into a front kick from The Dragon.
The Dragon connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The Dragon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Mendez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in The Dragon's guard now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendez prevents The Dragon from getting back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mendez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce The Dragon dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kato Mendez's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mendez misses with a takedown attempt - The Dragon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
The Dragon dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Mendez. That did some damage!
Mendez moves out of range of the body kick.
The Dragon throws a head kick but Mendez moves out of range.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Mendez counters with an outside leg kick.

and Mendez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in The Dragon's guard.

Mendez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mendez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The Dragon is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mendez is controlling him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Mendez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The Dragon is looking to stand up but Mendez isn't so interested in that idea.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
The Dragon pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kato Mendez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Mendez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A punch combination from Mendez misses.
Mendez tries to score a power double leg takedown but The Dragon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mendez somewhat.
Bruce The Dragon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kato Mendez.
The Dragon throws a head kick but Mendez moves out of range.

Mendez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The Dragon gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Mendez with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The Dragon trying desperately to get to his feet.

Mendez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force The Dragon to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so The Dragon shrugs it off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mendez goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now The Dragon is on top in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Kato Mendez.
I think Mendez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
