Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Michikano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michikano shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rua as he jumps to the side.

Michikano changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rua tries to avoid it but Michikano manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rua to the ground. Rua escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Horrible takedown by Michikano or perhaps it was just good defense by Rua which made him look bad.

Michikano jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Michikano feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Michikano is breathing heavily.
Michikano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rua swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rua is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Michikano asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Michikano sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Crunch! Rua slams his shin into Michikano's torso.
Michikano chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rua can pounce on him.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rua, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
