Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dave Yoma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Edmundo Animal!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoma cracks a nice hook into Animal's ribs.
Yoma throws a series of punches but Animal moves out of range.
Animal shoots in looking for a takedown. Yoma tries to sprawl out of it but Animal keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yoma manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Animal is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yoma wants to sweep but no luck.

Animal drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Animal jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Yoma controls Animal momentarily but Animal frees himself.

Yoma working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Animal doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Animal manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Yoma loads up on a big right hand but Animal slips the punch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yoma moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Yoma swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Yoma throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Yoma throws a head kick but Animal moves out of range.
Animal moves out of range of the leg kick from Yoma.
Yoma keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Animal tries for a takedown but Yoma circles away easily
and Yoma counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Dave Yoma has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edmundo Animal.
Animal looks gassed!
Yoma throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Yoma.
Animal fails with a takedown attempt.
A head kick from Yoma lands but Animal takes it in his stride.

Yoma misses the jab.
Yoma misses with a straight left.
Animal shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yoma as he jumps to the side.
Yoma tries a head kick but it misses.
Yoma lands a head kick. Animal smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Animal takes a head kick and keeps coming.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Animal closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Yoma did well to prevent Animal getting side control.

Animal is looking for a kimura but Yoma is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Animal to get the leverage.

Animal is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Animal is thwarting Yoma's attempts to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Animal takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Yoma fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Animal, pushing him back against the cage.
Animal is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Yoma dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Yoma throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Yoma misses with an uppercut. Animal saw that one coming.
Yoma tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Yoma gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Animal counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yoma won't be happy with that.
Yoma is trying to buck Animal off.

Animal tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Animal has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Yoma gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
