PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nate Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Irwin Iota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iota lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Young backs up against the cage.
Young checks a leg kick.
Young throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Young scores with a nice head shot.
Iota showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Young.

Iota fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Young sprawls well initially but Iota persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Young moves into full guard.
Young bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Iota's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Young trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Young sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Iota's guard.
Iota is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Young is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Iota is looking to improve his position.

Iota looks like he's trying to stand up.
Young trying to mount his opponent but Iota defends it.

Young is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Iota doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Young.

Young is trying to work for a kimura but Iota is defending well.
Young is breathing heavily.
Iota is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Young scores with a couple of nice shots.
Young moves into full mount! Iota won't be happy about that!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Iota tries to reverse the position but Young maintains control.

Young looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Young avoids the attempt from Iota to control.

Young working for a guillotine from mount but Iota is in no mood to give up.
Iota landing with some feeble shots from his back... He should probably try escaping the position instead.
Young takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Young is working for a rear naked choke. Iota is not defending it well and Young has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Iota refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Iota's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nate Young!
