The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nieminen shoots in and bounces Jones off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Jones has Nieminen pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jones pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nieminen tumbling to the mat - Jones dives into Nieminen's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Nieminen looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.

Nieminen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jones, pushing him back against the cage.

Nieminen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Jones stalks Nieminen and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Nieminen's face. Nieminen staggers backwards, shaken.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nieminen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
