PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Ozz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Nom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ozz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to So What?-Metallica. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Ozz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, King Nom!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nom looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Ozz throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Nom stands up over Ozz, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Nom lands a couple of digs.
Ozz trying to keep a closed guard but Nom is proving a slippery customer.
Nom missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nom accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ozz has momentary wrist control but Nom slips an elbow through the middle.
Nom wants to control from the top but Ozz keeps moving.

Ozz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ozz striking off his back but it's not causing Nom any problems.

Nom is looking to work some ground and pound but Ozz has wrist control.
Ozz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Ozz pushes Nom off and scrambles back to his feet.

Ozz has his takedown stuffed

and Nom counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Ozz has his foot on Nom's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nom works his way back into a safe position though.
Ozz wants to stand but Nom is controlling the position.
Nom wants to control from the top but Ozz keeps moving.
Nom looking to pass the guard.
Nom pushes down on Ozz's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ozz trying to hold on to Nom's head to control him but Nom postures up.
Nom seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ozz is looking for a sweep. Nom is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nom looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ozz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nom is trying to control. Ozz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Ozz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Nom's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Nom's back!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nom trying to control the hands but Ozz won't let him.
Nom turns into Ozz and is now in his guard.
Ozz wants to stand up but Nom is controlling him.
Nom stands and throws Ozz's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Nom taking a breather here.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Nom wants to control but Ozz is keeping him busy.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ozz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Ozz is not content to let Nom control the position.
Ozz wants to get back to his feet.

Ozz is letting Nom control him for a moment.

You can see the frustration on Ozz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Nom working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Ozz is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Nom off and has taken his back!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Nom tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nom has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ozz tries to bench press Nom off him but Nom keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King Nom showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nom can do anything to dispel that myth.

I would just about give that final round to King Nom.
I've got Nom winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
