PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Bruce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Beebus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruce comes into the arena with Princes of the Universe blaring out of the sound system. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, William Bruce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Beebus!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruce shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Beebus as he avoids it easily.
Beebus dodges the punch combination from Bruce.
Beebus stuffs the takedown attempt from Bruce. Bruce gets slowly back to his feet.

Beebus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Beebus is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beebus wants to pass the guard but Bruce is defending well.
Beebus is trying to control. Bruce wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Beebus thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bruce's head.

Beebus is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Beebus lands strikes from half guard.

Bruce is trying to stand up here but Beebus is controlling him well.
Beebus is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Beebus wants to pass the guard but Bruce is defending well.
Beebus drops an elbow to the side of Bruce's head.

Beebus is working for a kimura but Bruce is defending it quite comfortably.

Beebus is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Beebus seems to be looking for submissions.
Beebus seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Beebus is looking for a kimura but Bruce is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Beebus to get the leverage.

Bruce is looking to get back to is feet but Beebus passes into side control.

Bruce throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Bruce takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Beebus is looking to take a break and control but Bruce is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Beebus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bruce keeps working.

Beebus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bruce, who protects the arm well.
Beebus has knee on belly momentarily but Bruce bucks him off and regains half guard.

Beebus wants to pass the guard but Bruce is defending well.

Beebus is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bruce is just riding it out for now. Beebus eventually gives up the hold.
Bruce is trying to stand up here but Beebus is controlling him well.
Beebus blocks the strikes from Bruce.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Beebus dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bruce swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bruce keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Beebus is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Bruce.
Beebus goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Beebus looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bruce is fending him off so far but Beebus persists. Nope, Bruce circles away and we're back to standing.
Beebus shoots in for a takedown but Bruce shows good takedown defense.
William Bruce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Beebus.
Beebus fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bruce moves in looking to clinch but Beebus pushes him off.
Beebus takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Beebus takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Beebus avoids a punch combination nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Beebus fails to land the takedown.
Bruce scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Bruce changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Beebus has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Bruce misses with a few strikes there.
Beebus circles away from the clinch attempt.
Beebus takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Beebus looks for a takedown but Bruce sprawls well.
Bruce throws a leg kick but Beebus checks it.

Beebus gets a takedown into half guard.

Beebus is working for a kimura but Bruce is defending it quite comfortably.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Beebus not doing much here.
Bruce looks like he's trying to stand up.

Bruce is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Beebus scores with a couple of nice shots.
Beebus landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Beebus connects with a nice short shot to Bruce's temple.
Beebus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Beebus is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Bruce is in real trouble.

Beebus is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Bruce is tapping out! This one is all over!
