PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Gunn's choice of entrance music: Stranglehold- by Ted Nugent. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Taylor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyle Gunn!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice straight punches there by Gunn. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gunn.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Taylor is defended easily by Gunn.
Taylor fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gunn looks for the body kick but Taylor saw that one coming.

Taylor drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Gunn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Taylor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Taylor manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gunn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Taylor can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gunn has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Taylor off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Taylor gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Gunn moves into range and connects with a jab.
Gunn misses with a looping left.
Gunn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Taylor swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Taylor shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Taylor showed some decent athleticism there.
Gunn looks gassed!
Taylor is nestled in close to Gunn, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Taylor is looking to take a break and control but Gunn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Taylor will probably get the nod.

Taylor fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gunn sprawls well initially but Taylor persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Horrible takedown by Taylor or perhaps it was just good defense by Gunn which made him look bad.

Gunn closes the distance and clinches.
Taylor gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gunn.
Taylor drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gunn pulls his leg out and moves away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gunn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gunn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gunn has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Taylor is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gunn yanks on the arm and Taylor is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gunn.
