Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wes Welker!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Welker darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Welker missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Welker trying to pass the guard but Carter defending well.
Carter tries to get to full guard but Welker has control of the leg.

Carter is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Welker pulls his head out easily.
Carter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Welker is working away from the top position though.
Welker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Welker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Welker counters with a nice double leg into guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Carter tries to buck Welker off but he can't manage it.
Welker cracks Carter with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Welker is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Carter can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Welker goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Carter turns into him and now he's in Welker's guard.
Welker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Welker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Carter wants to control from the top but Welker keeps moving.
Welker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Carter is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Carter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Welker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Welker has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Carter is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Welker.

Welker is trying to maintain the position but Carter is very close to passing his half guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Welker is on top in guard.
Welker controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Welker is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Carter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Welker lands a couple of digs.

Welker is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Carter is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Carter has escaped and now he's on top!
Welker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carter manages to get himself to full guard.
Wes Welker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Carter had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Welker is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Carter Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Welker's back instead.

Carter patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Welker manages to reverse the position and now he's in Carter's guard. Nice work there by Welker.
Carter controls Welker momentarily but Welker frees himself.

Welker has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Carter to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Welker is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Carter pulls down on the head and he's put Welker to sleep! This one is all over!
