The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malla shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Coleman sprawls well. Coleman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Malla gets slowly back to his feet.

Malla darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Coleman trying to hold on to Malla's head to control him but Malla postures up.
Coleman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Coleman wants to sweep but no luck.

Malla throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Coleman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Coleman wants to stand but Malla has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Malla moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

TJ Coleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Malla dives in and grabs Coleman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Coleman pushes down on Malla's head and hops out.

Malla wants to control the pace but Coleman is squirming around nicely.
Coleman wants to control but Malla is having none of it.
