PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lou Spants (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Wojarski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Lou Spants has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lou Spants seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Spants, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Wojarski shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Spants is trying to keep Wojarski in close.
Wojarski stops Spants from standing up.
Wojarski trying to control the position from guard on top but Spants is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Wojarski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Spants napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Wojarski wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Spants, who protects the arm well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Wojarski blocks a low kick nicely.
Wojarski looks to land a left hand but Spants moved out of range nicely.
Wojarski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Spants but Spants pushes him off and we're back to square one.
The crowd cheers as Spants lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wojarski doesn't seem phased though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Michal Wojarski has been cut.
Wojarski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spants tries to avoid it but Wojarski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spants to the ground. Spants escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lou Spants has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michal Wojarski.

Wojarski gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Spants to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Spants is fighting to break Wojarski's control of his arms but Wojarski is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Spants takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Spants throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Wojarski fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Spants sprawls well initially but Wojarski persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wojarski takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Spants is looking for a sweep. Wojarski is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Spants is refusing to be controlled, as Wojarski sits in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wojarski thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Still in half guard, Wojarski seems content to control.
Spants wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spants throws a body punch but Wojarski moves out of range.
Wojarski shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Spants just misses with a punch to the body.

and Wojarski counters with a shoot takedown. Spants fights it but they end up in guard.
Wojarski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spants swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wojarski drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wojarski jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Spants tries to lock up and control but Wojarski gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Wojarski goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Spants is on top in guard.

Wojarski is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Spants has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Wojarski prevents Spants from getting the reversal.
Wojarski throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Wojarski throws a wild left hand from mount and Spants manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Wojarski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Spants keeps working.

Wojarski throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Spants on the side of the head.
Spants takes a swing at Wojarski's ribcage but misses.

Wojarski shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wojarski showed some decent athleticism there.
Spants is looking to control Wojarski's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Spants avoid being mounted?

Michal Wojarski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Wojarski is pressed up against the cage. Spants has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wojarski down to the mat. Wojarski avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lou Spants. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wojarski shoots in looking for a takedown. Spants tries to sprawl out of it but Wojarski keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Spants manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Wojarski is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Spants is just riding it out for now. Wojarski eventually gives up the hold.

Wojarski is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Spants sees it coming and defends easily.

I would just about give that final round to Michal Wojarski.
