PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Damien William (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Caruso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caruso has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Damien William!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Caruso!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

William forces Caruso back against the cage and clinches.
Caruso drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Caruso looks gassed!
William lands a right hand that snaps the head of Caruso backwards.

William manages to pull guard.
Caruso won't allow William to sweep him here.

Caruso got a little sloppy there for a moment and William has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Caruso has managed to get both his arms back between William's legs - danger averted.

William has his foot on Caruso's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Caruso works his way back into a safe position though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Caruso won't allow William to sweep him here.

William escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Caruso gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Caruso must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

William utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

William is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Caruso is aware though and is defending well.
Caruso advances position into side control!
William tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Caruso wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Caruso scores with punches from side control.
William struggling a bit here.

Caruso is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but William is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
William sneaks back into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Caruso tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
William trying to control here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
William scores with a one two! Caruso had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Caruso dodges the punch combination from William.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

William scores a takedown into full mount!

William working for a submission but Caruso is keeping him at bay.
Caruso working to try and regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
William looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
William trying to control but Caruso is having none of it.
William is landing with some decent strikes but Caruso is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

William is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Caruso to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Caruso shrugs it off.
Caruso in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

William is working for a guillotine from mount but Caruso frees his head quite easily.

William swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
