Meyers has chosen Iron Man by Ozzy Osborne as his entrance music. John Richter could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Donny Meyers's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, John Richter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donny Meyers!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meyers gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Meyers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Richter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Richter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Richter would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Richter stands and steps away. Meyers gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Meyers dives in and grabs Richter's left leg, looking for a takedown. Richter pushes down on Meyers's head and hops out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meyers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Richter keeps working.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Richter moves into the clinch.
Richter misses with some punches.
Meyers tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Meyers is trying to force a seperation but Richter has the dominant position.

Meyers breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Richter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Meyers avoids it really well and circles away.

Richter closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Richter lands in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Meyers is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Richter defends well.
Meyers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meyers throws a strike but Richter avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Meyers wants to control from the top but Richter keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Richter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Richter gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Meyers is working an open guard so Richter takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Richter moves into the clinch.
Meyers is trying to break the clinch but Richter is controlling him.

Richter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Richter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Richter slips under a jab from Meyers.

Richter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Meyers, pushing him back against the cage.
Richter drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Meyers gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Richter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A right hook to the body lands for Meyers.
Richter is breathing heavily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee is keeping an eye on Richter - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Meyers thows a body shot but no joy.

Meyers fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Richter looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Richter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Richter seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Meyers tries to work over Richter's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Richter will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Meyers up against the cage.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Richter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
