Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Pearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Guinness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pearson comes to the ring accompanied by Take 'Em All. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Richard Guinness!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guinness shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Guinness wants to clinch.
Guinness fails with a takedown attempt.
Pearson throws a sloppy head kick and Guinness moves out of range easily.
Guinness lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Pearson thows a body kick. Guinness tries to catch it but that hurt him.

James Pearson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Guinness.
Guinness looks gassed!

Pearson moves into the clinch.
Pearson is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Guinness gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Pearson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Guinness misses with a few strikes there.
A telegraphed right hand from Guinness misses the target.

and Pearson counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Guinness really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pearson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Guinness on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Guinness tries to improve position but can't.

Pearson decides to stand back up. Pearson steps back and let's Guinness get back to his feet.
Guinness misses with a kick to the body

and Pearson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Guinness's guard.

Guinness is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Guinness wants to control but Pearson passes easily into half guard.
Guinness tries to roll over but Pearson keeps him under control.
Pearson is taking a breather. Guinness says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Guinness throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Pearson manages to pass to side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Guinness tries to buck Pearson off but Pearson is having none of it.

Pearson is really struggling to control Guinness but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Guinness wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Guinness decides to pull guard.
Pearson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Guinness's guard.
Pearson is looking to take a break and control but Guinness is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.



Pearson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pearson showed some decent athleticism there.
Guinness wants to improve his position but Pearson is controlling well.
Pearson is thwarting Guinness's attempts to control the position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Guinness has closed the distance and engaged Pearson in a clinch.
Pearson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Guinness just stands there and leans against the ropes.

Guinness lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Pearson throws a nice head kick!

Pearson moves into the clinch.
Guinness wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Pearson tries to score a body lock takedown but Guinness shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pearson is looking for a triangle but Guinness pushes his legs off easily.
Guinness throws a big right hand that misses.
Pearson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Guinness's guard.

Pearson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pearson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Guinness is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
James Pearson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Guinness managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Pearson.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Guinness is not content to let Pearson control the position.
Pearson gets to mount! Guinness was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Pearson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Guinness is in a horrible position here. Pearson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Guinness can't get the takedown.
Guinness jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pearson walks away with a smile on his face. Guinness gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Pearson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Guinness keeping moving, preventing Pearson from controlling successfully.
Guinness wants to get back to his feet but Pearson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Guinness wants to control the position but Pearson says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Pearson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Guinness is looking to control Pearson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Guinness avoid being mounted?

Guinness darts in and clinches Pearson up against the ropes.

Pearson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Guinness clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Pearson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Guinness for as long as he can get away with.
Guinness prevents Pearson from getting a body triangle.
James Pearson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
