PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Skaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brock Lesnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Skaar!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skaar shoots in but no luck this time.

Lesnar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Skaar is looking for a sweep.
Lesnar in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Lesnar tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Lesnar decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Lesnar gets the takedown into side control.
Skaar manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Lesnar is pressing down on Skaar's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Lesnar has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Skaar off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Skaar tries to close the distance and clinch but Lesnar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lesnar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Lesnar pushes Skaar up against the cage in a clinch.
Lesnar prevents the takedown attempt.

Lesnar works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Lesnar is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lesnar decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Lesnar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Skaar wants to improve his position but Lesnar is controlling well.
Lesnar not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Skaar pushes Lesnar off looking to stand but Lesnar dives back in and keeps control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Skaar sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Skaar tries to get to full guard but Lesnar has control of the leg.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Skaar wants to get back to his feet.
Skaar is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lesnar scores with a couple of nice shots.

Lesnar stands up out of the half guard.

Lesnar rushes Skaar and presses him up against the cage.
Lesnar lands an elbow inside that Skaar shrugs off.

Lesnar wants the takedown. Skaar is fighting it off but Lesnar persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Skaar's guard against the cage.
Skaar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lesnar decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Skaar, up you get!
Lesnar blocks a head kick by Skaar.

Lesnar shoots in and bounces Skaar off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Skaar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lesnar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lesnar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lesnar in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Lesnar gets to his feet. Skaar looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Lesnar avoids the head kick by Skaar.
Lesnar shoots for a takedown but Skaar saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Skaar doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lesnar counters with a nice double leg into side control. Skaar won't be happy with that.
Brock Lesnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Skaar.
Skaar is looking to regain half guard here but Lesnar keeps moving and retains side control.

Lesnar has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Skaar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Lesnar flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Skaar has hold of Lesnar's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lesnar manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Skaar get's back to his feet.
Skaar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lesnar counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Skaar!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Skaar regains half guard.

Lesnar seems to be working for a kimura but Skaar defends the submission attempt.

Lesnar decides to return to a standing position.

Lesnar closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lesnar lands in his opponent's guard.

Lesnar gets to his feet - Skaar follows without any prompting.

Lesnar feints and as Skaar raises his hands in defense, Lesnar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lesnar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Skaar looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Lesnar passes into side control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lesnar tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Skaar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lesnar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnar dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Skaar takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Lesnar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Skaar tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Lesnar is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lesnar escapes and gets back to his feet.
Lesnar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Skaar swivels and escapes.

Skaar shoots in looking for a takedown. Lesnar tries to sprawl out of it but Skaar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lesnar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lesnar.
Lesnar connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Skaar some visible discomfort.
Lesnar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Skaar is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Skaar tries to buck Lesnar off but Lesnar is having none of it.

Lesnar turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lesnar manages to end up in side control.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Skaar wants to break the clinch but can't.

Lesnar jumps guard and drags Skaar to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lesnar wriggles free and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnar dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Lesnar has hold of one of Skaar's legs. Skaar is fighting the takedown attempt but Lesnar gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Lesnar working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Lesnar has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Skaar's face.

Lesnar postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Skaar is out cold - huge knockout for Lesnar!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Brock Lesnar!
