PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donovan DeAntonio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Miller might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Moby - Extreme Ways . DeAntonio has chosen "Psychosocial" by Slipknot as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Donovan DeAntonio told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller tries to close the distance and clinch up but DeAntonio swats him away and circles back towards the center.

DeAntonio clinches.
DeAntonio tries to break free but Miller pushes him back against the cage.

DeAntonio decides to pull guard.
Miller tries to stand but DeAntonio is controlling from the bottom.
Miller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Miller trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
DeAntonio wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Miller jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as DeAntonio walks away with a smile on his face. Miller gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

DeAntonio wants to control the pace but Miller is squirming around nicely.

Miller tries to lock up and control but DeAntonio gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
DeAntonio is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Miller can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

DeAntonio fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
DeAntonio lands a big shot there that rocks Miller but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Miller throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
DeAntonio seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

DeAntonio shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
DeAntonio wants to take a breather but Miller is having none of it.
DeAntonio working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
DeAntonio looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Miller with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if DeAntonio is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Miller tries to roll over but DeAntonio keeps him under control.

DeAntonio works his foot free and advances to mount.
DeAntonio wants to control the pace but Miller is squirming around nicely.
Miller tries to hold on but DeAntonio postures up.
Miller is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Donovan DeAntonio has got the better of the ground game so far.

Despite being in the dominant position, Donovan DeAntonio just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

DeAntonio ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. DeAntonio no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
DeAntonio is pulling down on Miller's head. It's preventing any offense from Miller, at least for the moment.

DeAntonio might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Miller kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
