PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pull Over (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Dickinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over comes to the cage accompanied by Insane Clown Posse - In Yo Face. Dickinson has chosen Harvester of Sorrow as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pull Over!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dave Dickinson!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dickinson shoots in for a takedown but Over shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dickinson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Over's waist but Over gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dickinson off to one side.

Over closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dickinson did well to prevent Over getting side control.
Dickinson won't allow Over to pass to mount.
Over content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Over decides to return to a standing position.
Dickinson avoids the head kick by Over.
Dickinson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

so Over counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Pull Over has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Dickinson.

Over drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Over jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Over could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Dickinson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Over thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Over has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dickinson working for a triangle but Over defends it easily.
Over lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Dickinson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Over stacks Dickinson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Over!

Over is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dickinson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Over thows a huge punch but Dickinson dodges it nicely.

Over is looking for a kimura but Dickinson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Over to get the leverage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dickinson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Over's guard.
Dickinson passes Over's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Over gets full guard.

Dickinson stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Dickinson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dickinson showed some decent athleticism there.
Dave Dickinson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dickinson works his way into side control.
Over tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dickinson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pull Over is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Dickinson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Over knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
