Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Caloy Labayen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caloy Labayen has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Caloy Labayen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Victor Romero!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Labayen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Labayen is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Labayen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Romero for as long as he can get away with.
Romero is trying to stand.
Labayen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Labayen stalling.
Labayen is keen to just control but Romero is a slippery customer.

Labayen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Labayen is working for an americana but Romero has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Labayen was thinking about the submission.

Labayen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Labayen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Labayen stands up from Romero's guard - Labayen perhaps looking for a knockout.

Labayen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Labayen moves in looking to clinch but Romero pushes him off.

Labayen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Romero is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Labayen pulls his head out easily.
Labayen takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Labayen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Romero does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Romero wants to clinch
and Labayen makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Labayen wants to control but Romero is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Romero is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Romero is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Labayen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Romero.

and Labayen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Labayen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Romero has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Labayen has managed to get both his arms back between Romero's legs - danger averted.

Romero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Labayen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Labayen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Labayen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Caloy Labayen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Labayen is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Romero has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Labayen is looking to defend but Romero has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Labayen! Romero pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Labayen taps out and this one is all over!
