PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sanouk Mookjai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Velazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velazquez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Eminem - Go to sleep. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sanouk Mookjai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Velazquez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velazquez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mookjai stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Mookjai fails to land the takedown.
Mookjai tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Velazquez swivels and escapes.
Velazquez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mookjai.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sanouk Mookjai. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Velazquez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mookjai to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Mookjai drops back, looking for a kneebar! Velazquez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Velazquez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Velazquez!
Mookjai is breathing heavily.
Mookjai is looking to reverse the position.
Mookjai might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Velazquez throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Velazquez postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Mookjai prevents Velazquez from moving into mount.
Mookjai is looking for a sweep.
Velazquez works to advance to full mount. Mookjai defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Mookjai wants to control but Velazquez is having none of it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Velazquez thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mookjai is trying to escape the mount.
Velazquez throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Velazquez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mookjai. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mookjai tries to hold on but Velazquez pushes him away.
Velazquez thowing shots but they're missing.

Velazquez misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Velazquez throws a sloppy strike and Mookjai uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Mookjai has ended up in Velazquez's guard.
Velazquez looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mookjai puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mookjai is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Velazquez sees it coming and defends easily.
Mookjai is stalling here. Velazquez is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mookjai seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Velazquez has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Mookjai manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Velazquez is refusing to be controlled, as Mookjai sits in half guard.
Velazquez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mookjai's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mookjai's back!

Velazquez lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Velazquez misses with a punch to the head.
Mookjai breaks Velazquez's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Velazquez wants to stand and escape but Mookjai is having none of it.
Mookjai controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Mookjai drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Velazquez dives on top into guard.

Velazquez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mookjai has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Velazquez has managed to get both his arms back between Mookjai's legs - danger averted.

Velazquez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Velazquez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Velazquez stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Mookjai tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Velazquez swivels and escapes.
A slow jab from Velazquez misses its intended target.
Velazquez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mookjai looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Velazquez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Velazquez drops Mookjai with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Mookjai looks back up at him and smiles so Velazquez waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Mookjai is rocked!
Velazquez lands a nice shot to the body.
Oh Mookjai is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Velazquez connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Mookjai to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Velazquez!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Aaron Velazquez!
