Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Simon Kurken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Napiera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kurken comes to the cage accompanied by Serbian national anthem . Kris Napiera will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kris Napiera!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurken takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Napiera scores with a nice right hand.

Napiera gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kurken to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Napiera is controlling Kurken's posture.
Kurken throws a big right hand that misses.
Napiera keeping full guard, as Kurken tries to pass.
Napiera is trying to keep Kurken in close.
Kurken might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Napiera wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Kurken drops back looking for a leg! Napiera is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Napiera manages to kick Kurken off! Kurken jumps back into Napiera's guard.

Kurken trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Napiera not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Napiera with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Kurken drops his hands momentarily and Napiera takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Kurken tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Napiera lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Napiera.

Napiera shoots in for a takedown but Kurken shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Napiera walks forward, straight into a front kick from Kurken.
Kurken shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Napiera rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kurken moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Kurken shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Kurken is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Napiera has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Napiera!

Kurken working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Napiera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Napiera manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Napiera postures up and lands a big shot to Kurken's brow.

Kurken throws his legs up looking for a submission but Napiera uses it to pass to side control.

Kurken is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Napiera pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kurken throws his legs up looking for a submission but Napiera uses it to pass to side control.
Kurken tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Napiera wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kurken is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Napiera off and has taken his back!

Napiera shoots in for a double leg but Kurken sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kurken throws a solid leg kick but Napiera takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kurken.
Napiera is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Napiera moves out of range of the body kick.
Kurken throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Napiera lands the left hand.
Kurken looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Napiera connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Napiera.
Kurken tries to buck Napiera off but Napiera is having none of it.
Kurken is not content to let Napiera control the position.
Kurken tries to bench press Napiera off him but Napiera keeps the position.
Kurken is working hard here to advance position.
Kurken managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Napiera.

Kurken manages to work his way to half guard, despite Napiera's best efforts.
Napiera frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Napiera looking to secure an arm triangle but Kurken defends it well.
Napiera can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kurken is looking to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kurken sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Napiera thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Kurken gets full guard.
Kurken wants to sweep here but Napiera controlling him for the moment.

Kurken has an active guard here but Napiera has managed to pass into half guard.

Napiera wants to take a breather but Kurken is having none of it.
Kurken is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Napiera is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kurken is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kurken is squirming around, avoiding Napiera's attempts to control the action.
Kurken keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Napiera looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Kurken is just holding on here. Napiera manages to take his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kris Napiera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Napiera lands a nice hook to Kurken's body. Kurken takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Kurken closes this distance looking for a takedown but Napiera circles away.
Napiera looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Napiera throws the left hand but Kurken avoids the punch easily.
Kurken pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Napiera cracks Kurken with a right hand to the side of the head.
Napiera might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Napiera shoots in but Kurken avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kurken throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Kurken tries for a takedown but Napiera sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kurken throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kurken shoots in and drives through. Napiera sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Kurken. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Napiera wants to control but Kurken is keeping him busy.

Napiera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kurken, who protects the arm well.

Kurken tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Napiera wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kurken manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Napiera wants to get back to full guard.

Kurken thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Napiera's head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kurken pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Napiera fails to land the takedown.
Napiera throws a jab but it's blocked by Kurken.

Kurken lands a head kick. Napiera smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Napiera is rocked!
Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Kurken! This one is all over!
