Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zachary Concepcion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Kirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kirk has chosen STAR TREK: Online - Soundtrack OST # 01 - Main Theme as his entrance music. James Kirk told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zachary Concepcion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Kirk!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Concepcion avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Concepcion tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kirk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kirk keeps the fight on the outside.
The fight stays on the outside here - Concepcion looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Concepcion tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kirk sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Concepcion somewhat.
Concepcion looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Concepcion is working for a kimura but Kirk is defending it quite comfortably.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kirk is not content to let Concepcion control the position.
Concepcion decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kirk to his feet.
Concepcion tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Concepcion lands with an uppercut that bounces Kirk off the cage and back into rage.

Nice takedown defense from Kirk. No joy for Concepcion on that attempt.

Kirk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Concepcion gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Kirk is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Concepcion seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kirk does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kirk has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Concepcion is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kirk.

Concepcion shoots in looking for a takedown. Kirk tries to sprawl out of it but Concepcion keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kirk manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Concepcion tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kirk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Concepcion shoots for a double leg takedown but Kirk sprawls well. He's pushed Concepcion's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zachary Concepcion. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kirk takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Kirk counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

and Kirk decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Concepcion's guard.
Concepcion is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kirk postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Concepcion is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kirk, into his guard.

Concepcion is nestled in close to Kirk, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Well Concepcion has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
