Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chan Wathan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Putin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vladimir Putin struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wathan tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Putin is able to avoid easily.
Putin blocks a jab.
Putin connects with a good right hand that stumbles Wathan. Wathan circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Wathan thows a body shot but no joy.
Putin moves out of range of the leg kick from Wathan.
Putin throws a right and a left that Wathan avoids nicely.
Putin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The crowd cheers as Wathan lands an impressive looking overhand right. Putin doesn't seem phased though.
Wathan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Putin throws a looping overhand right but Wathan ducks down to avoid it.
Putin throws the left hand but Wathan avoids the punch easily.
Wathan throws out a loose jab but Putin uses good head movement to avoid it.

Putin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Putin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Putin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Putin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Putin drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wathan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wathan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wathan!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Wathan cracks Putin with a big right hand but Putin just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
