PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Noah King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vito Anello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Killing in the name. Vito Anello has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Noah King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vito Anello!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Anello manages to avoid it.
King swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Anello closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
King wants to get back to full guard.
King gets full guard.

Anello is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! King is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! King has escaped and now he's on top!
King working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

King drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and King jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Anello throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Anello wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment.

King decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

King gets a clinch.
Anello changes levels and goes for a takedown here. King fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Anello misses with a wild combination.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Anello but Anello pushes him off and we're back to square one.

King clinches up against the cage.
King throws an elbow but it's blocked.
King prevents Anello from breaking the clinch.
Anello tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. King just stands there and leans against the cage.
Anello wants to get back to striking at distance but King won't allow it.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Anello wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but King has him pressed against the cage.
King misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Anello.
King landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
King tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
King scores a nice knee to the body.
Anello wants to break free but King has control.
Anello takes a knee right on the jaw!
King is breathing heavily.
Anello goes for a takedown in the clinch but King prevents it.
Noah King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vito Anello.
Anello on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Anello wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but King has him pressed against the cage.

King has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Anello uses from the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

King had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Anello is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. King Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Anello's back instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Anello has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
I really don't envy Anello right now.

King is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Anello has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but King has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Anello taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. King doesn't care though - he's delighted!
