PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ferris Bueller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Andre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bueller comes to the cage accompanied by Circus Maximus - From Childhood's Hour . Andre has chosen Fort Minor - Remember The Name as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Ferris Bueller has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ferris Bueller seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ferris Bueller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Andre!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bueller blocks a head kick by Andre.
Bueller tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Andre throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Andre misses the jab.
Bueller walks into a left hand.
Bueller tries for a takedown but Andre sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Andre misses with a head kick.
Andre throws a head kick but Bueller moves out of range.
Bueller keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Andre tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bueller was well out of range. Poor timing from Andre.

Bueller feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bueller drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Andre dives on top into guard.
Andre would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Bueller escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Andre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Andre wants to stand but Bueller is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bueller is pulling down on Andre's head. It's preventing any offense from Andre, at least for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bueller working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Andre doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Andre manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Andre avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Andre stands and steps away. Bueller gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bueller throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Andre's waist but Andre gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bueller off to one side.
Andre throws the left hand but Bueller avoids the punch easily.
Andre fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bueller manages to avoid it.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bueller.
Andre keeping his opponent close.
Andre struggling a bit here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bueller thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bueller tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bueller has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bueller is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Andre knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Andre struggling a bit here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ferris Bueller dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Bueller blocks a low kick nicely.
Andre thows a left - swing and a miss!
Andre throws the kick towards the body but Bueller avoids it.

Bueller scores a takedown into full mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bueller swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Andre is now in Bueller's guard. A big mistake from Bueller there, giving up the dominant position!

Andre stands up and waves to Bueller to follow him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Left hook, right uppercut from Andre.
Andre looks to land a right hand but Bueller moved out of range.
Andre throws a leg kick that misses.
Paulo Andre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bueller avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bueller throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Andre stuffs the takedown attempt from Bueller. Bueller gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice defenses there by Bueller.
Andre keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ferris Bueller is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Andre misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bueller shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Andre as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ferris Bueller. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bueller shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Bueller is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Andre to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Andre shrugs it off.
Bueller can't control as he wanted to and Andre manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Andre pushes Bueller off and gets back to his feet.
An inside leg kick from Andre misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bueller shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Andre but Andre pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Andre swings for the body but Bueller moves out of range.
Andre rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bueller moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Andre fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bueller checks it well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Good work by Bueller as he checks the leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Paulo Andre will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Bueller shoots in but no luck this time.
Bueller shoots in but Andre avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Bueller throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Andre was covering up waiting for the punch and Bueller finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Bueller is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Andre is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Andre has escaped and now he's on top!

Andre got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bueller has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Andre has managed to get both his arms back between Bueller's legs - danger averted.

Bueller has a closed guard, preventing Andre from standing up.

Andre stands up and waves to Bueller to follow him.
Andre rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bueller moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bueller shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Andre pinned against the cage. Andre gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ferris Bueller. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bueller slips a straight right by Andre.
Andre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bueller.
Bueller fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Andre lands a body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A punch combination from Andre misses.
Andre throws the left hand but Bueller avoids the punch easily.
An inside leg kick lands from Andre.
A telegraphed right hand from Andre misses the target.
Bueller avoids the body shot from Andre.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Andre throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Andre swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bueller shoots in for a double leg but Andre sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Andre throws a lazy right hand but Bueller sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Bueller gets the takedown into side control.

Bueller tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Bueller wants to control but Andre is keeping him busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Paulo Andre.
I think Andre has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
