Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Simon Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Oshimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Simon Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenji Oshimoto!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole shoots in for a takedown but Oshimoto shows good takedown defense.
Oshimoto is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cole.
Oshimoto bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Oshimoto defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cole.
Cole shoots for a double leg takedown but Oshimoto sprawls well. He's pushed Cole's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Cole. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Oshimoto misses with a straight right.
Oshimoto throws a big shot that misses.
Oshimoto works Cole's body with a nice hook.
Cole wants to clinch up but Oshimoto keeps it at a distance.
Oshimoto lands a nice hook to Cole's body. Cole takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Cole moves out of range of the strikes.
Oshimoto scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Cole gets a takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oshimoto slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Oshimoto looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cole stands and throws Oshimoto's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Cole tries to advance to mount but Oshimoto denies him.
Cole misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Cole will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cole tries for a kimura but Oshimoto is defending well.
Oshimoto prevents Cole from improving position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenji Oshimoto dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Cole will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Cole uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Oshimoto.
Cole fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Oshimoto is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
A looping hook to the body misses from Oshimoto. Cole does a little dance to reset his feet.
Oshimoto connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cole. Cole circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Oshimoto lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Oshimoto lands a left hand that snaps the head of Cole backwards.
Oshimoto prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Cole. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cole is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Oshimoto gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Oshimoto gets through Cole's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Oshimoto scores with a shot to the side of Cole's head.

Oshimoto lands a hook that snaps the head of Cole backwards.
Oshimoto misses with the head strike.

Oshimoto working some nice short punches in the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Oshimoto - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Oshimoto presses Cole against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Oshimoto gets through Cole's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Oshimoto breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kenji Oshimoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oshimoto throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cole seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Oshimoto shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Cole is backing up but Oshimoto catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Cole covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Oshimoto Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenji Oshimoto!
