Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Dowe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Dowe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Rage!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Anthony Taglia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rage shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Dowe but Dowe pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Dowe closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rage sneaks back into half guard.
Rage wants to get back to full guard.
Dowe seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Rage gets full guard.

Rage has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Dowe is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rage.
Rage tries to improve position but can't.
Dowe is breathing heavily.

Rage is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rage manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dowe's best efforts.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Dowe shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Rage wants to get back to full guard.

Dowe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rage keeps working.
Dowe is taking a breather. Rage says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Dowe's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dowe in particular looking to stall.

Rage looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Dowe pushes past his half guard into mount!

Rage bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Rage drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rage jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Rage thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Rage is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dowe is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dowe has escaped and now he's on top!
Dowe wants to stand but Rage has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Rage looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Dowe seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Rage manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Dowe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rage tries to avoid it but Dowe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rage to the ground. Rage escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Dowe counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rage's guard now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Dowe dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dowe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dowe throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rage stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Rage closes the distance but Dowe moves to the side
and Dowe counters with a left and a right that stings Rage.
Rage is looking to chop away at Dowe's legs.

Dowe has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rage has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Dowe avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Rage tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Dowe just stands there and leans against the cage.

John Dowe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Rage.
Rage fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rage jumps guard but Dowe stands there with Rage around his waist. Rage gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Dowe wants to break free but Rage has control.

Rage tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rage drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Dowe gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Dowe has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rage uses from the top position.

Rage has gone for a leg lock! Dowe slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rage's guard.
Dowe wants to get up but he can't break Rage's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Rage has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dowe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rage has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Dowe off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Dowe lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rage backs up against the cage.

Dowe throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Rage pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dowe is keeping the position for now.

Rage is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rage shoots in and drives through. Dowe sprawls well.
Rage is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dowe.
Dowe keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
John Dowe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Dowe goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dowe closes the distance and lands a one-two.

A close second round but Richard Rage will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Rage needs to keep his hands up - Dowe had a free shot at his head there.
Rage will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dowe works over Rage's head and body with a nice combination.

Dowe shoots in and bounces Rage off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

John Dowe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rage has his foot on Dowe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dowe works his way back into a safe position though.

Rage seems to have recovered his senses.
Rage tries to clinch up but Dowe circles away and keeps his distance.
Dowe lands with a shot to the body.
No joy there for Dowe, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rage shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Dowe counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Dowe darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Dowe is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Rage has managed to free his arm - good work.
Dowe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rage keeps working.

Rage slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Rage is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Rage had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dowe is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rage Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dowe's back instead.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Rage is cranking Dowe's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Dowe! He's tightened the choke and Dowe is tapping out!
