Stein is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rolling Stones - Paint it Black. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Stein!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stein fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Stein looks for a takedown but Russell sprawls well.

Kent Russell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Stein.
Russell scores with a nice head shot.
Stein walks into a stiff left hand from Russell.
Stein takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Russell tries to stand but Stein is controlling his head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stein sneaks back into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stein is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stein is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Russell is aware though and is defending well.
Russell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stein is proving hard to escape from.

Stein looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Russell is fending him off so far but Stein persists. Nope, Russell circles away and we're back to standing.

Stein doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Russell bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Stein's head.

Stein moves forwards but Russell connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Russell cracks Stein with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Stein changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Russell tries to avoid it but Stein manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Russell to the ground. Russell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Stein is breathing heavily.
Russell lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Stein falls backwards - clearly groggy! Russell dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
