The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barsanti's corner calls for a 1-2. Barsanti obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

It looks like Paul Phoenix has been cut.
Barsanti tries to bum rush Phoenix with a series of wild strikes but Phoenix uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Barsanti circles away from the clinch attempt.
Phoenix shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Phoenix shoots in and drives through. Barsanti sprawls well.
Barsanti looks to land a combination but Phoenix avoids it well.
Barsanti stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Barsanti lands a lovely overhand right.

Phoenix shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barsanti but Barsanti pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Phoenix closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Barsanti is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Phoenix seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Phoenix accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Phoenix escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barsanti gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Phoenix utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Barsanti throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Phoenix works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Barsanti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Phoenix swivels though and keeps the full guard.
