PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drago Yahams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikhail Tokarev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tokarev has chosen Real Villains - Celph Titled as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mikhail Tokarev was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Drago Yahams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mikhail Tokarev!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yahams throws an overhand right that lands on Tokarev's shoulder, as Tokarev tries to avoid the shot.
Yahams swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Yahams moves into the clinch successfully.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Yahams escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Yahams tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tokarev paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Yahams misses with a wild body shot.
Yahams misses with a series of wild punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yahams lands a nice looking body shot.
Tokarev looks gassed!
Yahams throws a right and a left that both miss.

Yahams clinches with his opponent.

Yahams pulls guard effortlessly.
Yahams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yahams is looking to stand up but Tokarev isn't so interested in that idea.
Tokarev slips nicely into half guard.
Tokarev prevents Yahams from improving his position.

Tokarev seems to be looking for submissions.
Yahams gets back to full guard.
Yahams is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Yahams escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tokarev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Tokarev wants to control from the top but Yahams keeps moving.
Yahams bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tokarev's guard.

Tokarev had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Yahams defends it easily.

Yahams stands up from Tokarev's guard - Yahams perhaps looking for a knockout.
Yahams tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tokarev swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yahams throws out a powerful jab.
Yahams misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Tokarev.
Yahams lands a nice looking body shot.

Yahams moves into the clinch successfully.

Yahams has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Tokarev clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Yahams has good solid back control here.
Yahams's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Tokarev tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Tokarev is desperately trying to improve his position but Yahams has a good base and remains in mount.

Yahams is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Drago Yahams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yahams misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Drago Yahams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tokarev keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Yahams just misses with a punch to the body.

Yahams has managed to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drago Yahams dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Tokarev shoots for a double leg takedown but Yahams sprawls well. He's pushed Tokarev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Drago Yahams is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Yahams closes the distance and clinches.
Yahams has Tokarev pressed against the cage.

Yahams jumps into guard, dragging Tokarev to the mat.
Tokarev with a nice head shot there.
Tokarev is looking to work some ground and pound but Yahams has wrist control.
Tokarev throws and elbow that misses. Yahams uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tokarev's guard. Nice move by Yahams!

Tokarev is breathing heavily.

Tokarev working for a triangle but Yahams defends it easily.

Yahams stands up and waves to Tokarev to follow him.

Tokarev takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Yahams has Tokarev up against the cage in a clinch.
Yahams prevents the takedown attempt.

Yahams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yahams is looking to wear down Tokarev with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Yahams closes the distance and clinches.
Yahams lands a right hand that snaps the head of Tokarev backwards.

Yahams gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Tokarev is looking to improve his position.
Yahams moves nicely into side control.
Yahams moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yahams has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Yahams prevents Tokarev from getting the reversal.
Yahams content just to control the position here.
Tokarev is desperately trying to improve his position but Yahams has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drago Yahams dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Yahams lands a nice shot that snaps Tokarev's head back.
Yahams jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Tokarev uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Yahams.
Tokarev slips a jab and a cross from Yahams.
A swing and a miss from Yahams.
Yahams tries to clinch but Tokarev moves out of range.
Yahams tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tokarev paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tokarev takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yahams throws a right and a left that both miss.
Yahams jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Yahams lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tokarev at a distance.

Yahams tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Yahams cracks Tokarev with a right hand to the side of the head.
Yahams throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tokarev sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Yahams lands with a straight right. Tokarev didn't see that one coming.
A punch combination from Yahams misses.
Yahams tries to bum rush Tokarev with a series of wild strikes but Tokarev uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tokarev moves out of range as Yahams strikes.
Yahams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tokarev circles away quickly and effectively.
Yahams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tokarev moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Yahams rushes Tokarev and presses him up against the cage.
Tokarev has Yahams pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Yahams manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Yahams breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tokarev drops his hands momentarily and Yahams takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Yahams misses with a jab, cross combination.

Yahams moves into the clinch successfully.

Yahams breaks the clinch.
Yahams lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tokarev at a distance.
Yahams ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Yahams looks to land a combination but Tokarev avoids it well.

Yahams wants to clinch.
Yahams stuns Tokarev with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Yahams fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tokarev, pushing him back against the cage.
Yahams changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tokarev fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Yahams gets a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tokarev turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Yahams tries to improve position but can't.

Tokarev tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tokarev has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Drago Yahams is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Yahams is trying to get back to his feet.
Tokarev wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yahams keeps working.
Yahams is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Drago Yahams showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Yahams has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
