PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kanbei Shimada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Hammock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Shimada might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Party and Bullshit. Hammock has chosen The Office Rap as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shimada lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hammock backs up against the cage.

Hammock takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Hammock shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shimada's guard.

Shimada seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Shimada working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hammock doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hammock manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Shimada fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hammock sprawls well initially but Shimada persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hammock feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
