Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek Garner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and shogun li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). shogun li is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garner shoots in but no luck this time.
li throws a sloppy head kick and Garner moves out of range easily.
Garner throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
li pulls out of a head kick attempt.
li fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

li shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Garner's guard.
Garner tries to land a sweep but no joy.

li working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Garner's head.
Garner avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
li won't allow Garner to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garner keeping moving, preventing li from controlling successfully.
li is looking to stand up but Garner won't let him.

Garner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst li is controlling him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

li stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garner swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Garner has a closed guard, preventing li from standing up.
li scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
li is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
li tries to bum rush Garner with a series of wild strikes but Garner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
shogun li seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Garner misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Garner counters with a left to the body.

li closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

li stands up and beckons Garner to join him on the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - li looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Garner avoids a punch combination nicely.
Garner is trying hard to land a takedown here. li sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

li misses with a double jab

and Garner counters with a shoot takedown. li fights it but they end up in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Garner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's time! Garner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

li goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
li throws a head kick but Garner moves out of range.
li tries to close the distance and clinch but Garner swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

li drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Garner is controlling li's posture.
li is looking to stand up but Garner won't let him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
li throwing strikes from guard but Garner blocks nicely.

li preventing the sweep.
Garner is wriggling around but li manages to pass to half guard.
Garner is in trouble now - li has advanced to mount!
li lands with some strikes.
li tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
BOOM! li connects with a massive shot to the dome!
li cracks Garner with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

li has hold of Garner's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Garner manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
li throws some wild stikes that Garner manages to avoid easily.
li throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Garner is squirming around, avoiding li's attempts to control the action.
Garner holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as li tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

li is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Garner has managed to escape the submission attempt.
shogun li has got the better of the ground game so far.
li throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Garner because li loaded up on that one.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A nice elbow there by li.
Garner taking shots to the head.
li throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Garner tries to hold on but li pushes him away.

li trying to control but he's not successful this time.
shogun li is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
li is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

shogun li comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well li has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
