PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between fred bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). bob kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sublime - Santeria. Carlos Gracie will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, fred bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Gracie is working for a submission of some sort.
Gracie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed bob's head.
bob is trying to stand back up but Gracie is controlling him

Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches bob napping and manages to drive through into side control!
bob pushes Gracie away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gracie gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but bob is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

bob takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

bob could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gracie trying to control the position but bob is working away.
Gracie takes a little break here. bob wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but bob keeps working.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gracie shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. bob defends it nicely.
bob lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively.
Gracie shoots in for a double leg but bob sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gracie shoots for a takedown but bob saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
fred bob has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Gracie.

Gracie is working for a submission of some sort.
bob is doing well to control the position and prevent Gracie from advancing to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear bob down.

bob tries to buck Gracie off but Gracie is having none of it.

Gracie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by bob, who protects the arm well.
bob is pushing Gracie's head away, looking to escape. Gracie manages to hold on to the position though.

Gracie has worked his way into a potential kimura here. bob is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gracie yanks on the arm and bob is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gracie.
