Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jacques Mehoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerben Ring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gerben Ring!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ring scores with a decent looking hook.
Ring circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mehoff tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ring paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ring uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Ring scores with the left hand. Mehoff knows he should have avoided that one.
Mehoff tries to clinch there but Ring circles away.
Ring throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mehoff is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ring slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Mehoff tries to clinch there but Ring circles away.
Ring lands a really nice looking cross but Mehoff seems unphased.

Ring avoids the elbow strike from Mehoff, against the cage.

It looks like Gerben Ring has been cut.
Mehoff throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Ring blocks it with crossed arms.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Mehoff tries to land knees in the clinch but Ring avoids the damage to the body.

Ring tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Mehoff changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ring fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Mehoff closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mehoff lands in his opponent's guard.
Ring wants to sweep here but Mehoff controlling him for the moment.

Ring is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ring is looking to take a break and control but Mehoff is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ring is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Mehoff is not content to let Ring control the position.
Mehoff pushes Ring off looking to stand but Ring dives back in and keeps control.

Ring tries to pass to full mount but Mehoff defends it.

Ring seems to be working for a kimura but Mehoff defends the submission attempt.
Ring wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mehoff keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ring jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mehoff steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ring.
Jacques Mehoff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mehoff shoots for a double leg takedown but Ring sprawls well. He's pushed Mehoff's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mehoff tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ring swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ring is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mehoff wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ring slowing the pace effectively.
A short right from Ring on the inside.
Ring makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Ring is trying to break the clinch but Mehoff is controlling him.
Ring is looking to control Mehoff's arms but Mehoff gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ring has his back to the cage.
Mehoff looking to throw knees to the head but Ring is blocking nicely.
Mehoff tries a knee to the head but Ring blocks it.
A frustrated look appears on Ring's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Mehoff is working for takedown but Ring is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacques Mehoff. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mehoff landing knees to the body.
Ring wants to get back to striking at distance but Mehoff won't allow it.
Ring lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Mehoff or not.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacques Mehoff will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Mehoff shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ring as he avoids it easily.

Ring moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Mehoff tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ring swats him away and circles back towards the center.
No joy there for Ring, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Ring counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ring.
Ring throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mehoff works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ring won't allow Mehoff to get back to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ring tries for a kimura but Mehoff is defending well.
Ring throws a strike aimed at the side of Mehoff's head but Mehoff avoids it well.

Ring is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mehoff knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mehoff parries the strikes from Ring easily there. Ring is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mehoff to escape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ring is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mehoff is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Mehoff is pushing Ring's head away, looking to escape. Ring manages to hold on to the position though.
Ring postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Mehoff is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Ring has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Ring lands an elbow.
Ring working the ground and pound.
Ring controlling the position from side mount.
Let's hope that Ring has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Ring in side control, throwing shots but Mehoff defends.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ring taking a breather here.

Ring has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Mehoff is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ring yanks on the arm and Mehoff is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ring.
