Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pjotr Mirnakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Aldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pjotr Mirnakov!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mirnakov wants to clinch.
Aldo waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mirnakov.
Mirnakov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mirnakov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Aldo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Aldo postures up and lands a big shot to Mirnakov's brow.

Aldo trying to control the position from guard on top but Mirnakov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mirnakov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aldo is one step ahead there.
Aldo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Aldo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Aldo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Aldo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mirnakov shoots and misses

so Aldo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Mirnakov working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Aldo has passed into half guard!
Aldo uses his free foot to push down on Mirnakov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mirnakov.

Aldo landing strikes, looking to finish!
Mirnakov manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Aldo is taking a breather. Mirnakov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Aldo prevents Mirnakov from improving his position.
Mirnakov tries to kick Aldo off but Aldo keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Mirnakov throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Aldo is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mirnakov pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Aldo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Aldo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mirnakov is looking to stand up but Aldo isn't so interested in that idea.
Mirnakov is trying to control the position but Aldo postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Aldo throws a big right hand that misses.
Aldo is looking to work some ground and pound but Mirnakov has wrist control.

Mirnakov wants to get back to his feet but Aldo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mirnakov takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Aldo rushes Mirnakov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Aldo manages to break the clinch.
Aldo throws a head kick that misses.

Mirnakov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aldo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Aldo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Mirnakov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pjotr Mirnakov.

and Aldo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Aldo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Aldo is looking to work some ground and pound but Mirnakov has wrist control.

Mirnakov has his foot on Aldo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aldo works his way back into a safe position though.
Aldo passes Mirnakov's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Aldo stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Mirnakov to get to his feet.

and Aldo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mirnakov's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Aldo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mirnakov's guard.
Mirnakov wants to control the action here but instead Aldo manages to pass to full mount!

Aldo is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Aldo rushes Mirnakov and presses him up against the cage.
Mirnakov keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Aldo's efforts to push away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mirnakov wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mirnakov scores with a hook to the body.
Aldo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mirnakov walks away with a smile on his face. Aldo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Mirnakov tries for a takedown but Aldo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Mirnakov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Aldo did well to prevent Mirnakov getting side control.
Aldo is looking to control Mirnakov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Aldo avoid being mounted?
The fighters are battling for position here. Aldo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Mirnakov wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving.
Mirnakov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Aldo looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Mirnakov is defending well. Aldo quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Mirnakov has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Aldo celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
