Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Philco Hitachi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Drago!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hitachi shoots for a double leg takedown but Drago sprawls well. He's pushed Hitachi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Drago gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Drago looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Hitachi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hitachi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Drago manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hitachi has Drago in his guard.
Hitachi has momentary wrist control but Drago slips an elbow through the middle.

Drago got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hitachi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Drago has managed to get both his arms back between Hitachi's legs - danger averted.
Hitachi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Drago postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Hitachi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Drago can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hitachi has his foot on Drago's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Drago works his way back into a safe position though.

Drago is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Drago wants to get up but he can't break Hitachi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Drago wants to control from the top but Hitachi keeps moving.
Drago must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hitachi is looking for a triangle but Drago pushes his legs off easily.

Hitachi is breathing heavily.

Hitachi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Drago is aware though and is defending well.

Drago avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Drago in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Drago is looking to stand up but Hitachi won't let him.

Drago drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Drago jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Drago stands and steps away. Hitachi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Hitachi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Drago scores a takedown into full mount!
Hitachi sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, if Drago is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hitachi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Drago pulls his head out easily.
Hitachi tries to roll over but Drago keeps him under control.

Drago is trying to work for a kimura but Hitachi is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hitachi is pressing down on Drago's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Drago throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hitachi works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hitachi pushes a forearm under Drago's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Drago is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Philco Hitachi!
